The Club
Towcestrians Cricket Club
is part of the Towcestrians Sports Club, based in Towcester,
Northants. The club is an open, non-profit making, multi-sports
organisation that also comprises Rugby, Tennis and Ladies
Hockey sections.
The Cricket
Club, an ECB focus club, runs two senior Saturday sides,
competing in the Northamptonshire Cricket League (NCL) and
a Sunday XI that play friendly matches. A mid-week side
plays a series of 20 over matches. Senior coaching sessions
are run on Wednesday evenings during the season.
In the winter months practice sessions take place at the
County Ground on Tuesday evenings.
Junior cricket
is expanding rapidly, in the numbers participating, performance
levels and the development of coaching and administrative
support. Sport England Clubmark accreditation was gained in 2004.
Teams play in the South Northants Junior Cricket League
(SNJCL) and the Northampton & District League. In 2007 there are squads at U17, U15(2), U13(2), U11(3)level. There is also an expanding Kwik cricket section for 8 to 10 year olds.
2004 saw
the foundation of a Ladies team playing a number of friendly
fixtues. Such was their success they were named Northamptonshire
Cricket Association for Women and Girls 'Club of the Year'.
