The Club
Towcestrians Cricket Club
is part of the Towcestrians Sports Club, based in Towcester,
Northants. The club is an open, non-profit making, multi-sports
organisation that also comprises Rugby, Tennis and Ladies
Hockey sections.
The Cricket
Club, an ECB focus club, runs two senior Saturday sides
competing in the Northamptonshire Cricket League (NCL) and
a Sunday XI playing friendly matches. Senior coaching sessions
are run on Wednesday evenings during the season.
In March and April indoor practice sessions take place at Sponne School Sports Hall on Thursday evenings.
Junior cricket
is expanding rapidly, in the numbers participating, performance
levels and the development of coaching and administrative
support. Sport England Clubmark accreditation was gained in 2004.
Teams play in the South Northants Junior Cricket League
(SNJCL) and the Northampton & District League. In 2010 there are squads at U17, U15, U13 and U11 level. There is also an expanding Kwik cricket section for 8 to 10 year olds.
2004 saw
the foundation of a Ladies team. Such was their success they were named Northamptonshire
Cricket Association for Women and Girls 'Club of the Year'. Since then the squad has gone from strength to strength.
