Towcestrians luck with the toss rolls on into week 10, after losing the 9th toss in a row and being inserted to bat by Rushden. The track at first appeared to be one which offered little help to the bowlers as Tows got off to another positive start putting on 40 for the first wicket. It was Andrew Key (15) who fell first for Tows, edging a good delivery from Rushden's best bowler James Rawlins (3-60). Rawlins was getting variable bounce and for a while was proving difficult to get away and after he removed the in form Laycock (38) and Yuill (4) Tows were struggling at 100-3. A big partnership was required and Tows got that from Jack Parish and Adam Kelly (44). By the time Kelly departed with the score on 210, Parish took over and completely dominated the Rushden attack, in a ruthless display of batting. After notching up his 4th hundred of the season, Parish went onto his 150 in just an extra 20 balls and finished up with a club record score of 161, allowing Tows to declare on 316-5 after just 44 overs!
Rushden then got off to a steady start with the bat, and for most of the innings frustrated Towcestrians, Tows finally getting the first wicket break through with the score on 89 and almost 17 overs completed. Tows continued to struggle to break down a resolute Rushden and it wasn’t until the fall of the 5th wicket, with the score on 160 and 20 overs remaining that Tows really sensed they had a chance of getting a maximum points victory. The old ball was now doing plenty for Tows spin bowlers and Parish (5-37) and Laycock (4-43) were proving impossible for the Rushden lower order to get away. Tows finally got their deserved victory in the 53rd over and after 161 runs and 5 wickets the man of the match choice was possibly the easiest decision ever!

Towcestrians luck at the toss now rolls on into week 9, after Captain Adam Kelly lost his 8th toss in a row. Now surely a league record, although on this occasion it didn’t matter, as much to the shock of Towcestrians, St Crispins decided to bat first!
Towcestrians had a good start again with the ball keeping it nice and tight early on, thanks to Ben Laycock (3-65) and the again impressive Dave Williams (3-51) who is growing in confidence more and more each week. After picking up the first 5 wickets cheaply, Tows were unable to break the 6th wicket partnership between Richardson (88) and Smith (29) who helped to post, what was considered at tea to be a par score for St Crispins of 214-9 off their 50 overs.
Tows knew that a good start to their innings was again essential in the run chase, and Ben Laycock (99) and Andrew Key (34) were able to provide this, putting on an excellent 117 run partnership for the opening wicket in quick time. After losing Key, Towcestrians also lost James Kirk 2nd ball and just for a few overs it looked as though the run chase maybe stumbling slightly. These fears were put to bed by another partnership between Laycock and Yuill, and by the time Laycock was unfortunately out bowled around his legs on 99, the game was long since won. Yuill continued his return to form with 49*.

It was an earlier start than normal at Greens Norton Road this week due to the World Cup as Towcestrians took on Great Oakley. The early start did nothing to change Towcestrians luck as they again lost the toss, with Skipper Adam Kelly yet to win one this season.
Tows got off to a quick start thanks again to Elliott Parish (21) and Ben Laycock (118), it was a brilliant knock again from Laycock his second hundred of the season already and his sixth in the last 2 yeas. Laycock was well supported by Skipper Kelly (74) and Jack Parish who chipped in with a useful 28 as Tows posted a more than competitive 274 for 7 from their 50 overs.
Great Oakley got off to a great start with the bat, mainly thanks to David Evans (62), and for a while it looked as though a run chase may be on as Great Oakley were on 75 for no wicket off 14 overs. Towcestrians then introduced Jack Parish into the attack and with a great spell of bowling (5-26) he gave Tows a chance of a win on a track which offered little to the bowlers. Parish was well supported with the ball by Laycock (2-31), and although they managed to get the opposition 9 down it wasn’t to be and Tows couldn’t get the wicket they needed for a 30 point win, as Great Oakley closed on 181-9.

On a blisteringly hot day, Towcestrians lost the toss and as usual in the Northants County League, were put into bat on what looked to be a difficult track. The new ball proved very difficult to play against, popping up and keeping low. After the early loss of Martin Parish, Tows then put together a battling partnership between skipper Adam Kelly (86 off 125 balls) and the in-form Jack Parish (54 from 55 balls). When Parish fell with the score at 90, the target of at least 180 seemed a long way away with the side short of key batsmen. Tows managed to work hard to post a more than competitive 215, thanks also to another Parish contribution with Elliott making 34.
In the field Towcestrians made a great start, reducing Heyford to 12-2 and removing the dangerous Cambray early on. Towcestrians then seemed to lose their way and allowed Heyford to get on top. As Heyford seemed to be cruising towards their target at 130-3 after 30 overs but the introduction of Mathew Yuill (4-29) into the bowling attack brought Tows back in to the game. Yuill, together with Jack Parish (4-29) skittled through the remaining Heyford batsmen to record a much needed win.

Tows will be looking to build on this win away to struggling Wellingborough OG’s on Saturday.
Tows 1st XI were looking to continue their fine start to the season as they took on Stony Stratford's 2nd Team at Greens Norton Road. Tows lost the toss and were put in to bat and it wasn't long before in-form batsman Jack Parish was as the crease. Parish hit a superb 113 - his 3rd century in as many innings so far this season. Runs also came for Parish's brother, Eliott, who notched up a smart 53 and from James Kirk, who again looked impressive for his 41. No other Tows batsman made it to double figures, but the home side were still able to post what appeared to be a reasonable score of 235 all out from just under 47 overs.
In reply, Tows got off to a perfect start as James Kirk dismissed opener James Canwell for just 1 run. However, the early wicket seemed to galvanise Stony Stratford. Steve Underdown and Richard Scott batted superbly and barely gave the home team a sniff of a chance. Underwood finished on 96 not out, while Scott scored 106 not out, to give the visitors a well deserved victory.

On Saturday Tows 1st XI travel to Heyford.
Towcestrians continued their winning start to the season with a 116-run victory at home against Horton House.
Horton House won the toss and elected to bowl on what looked a very good wicket for batting. Tows suffered an early setback as they lost the left- handed South African star Tony Roodt. However the wicket brought together the run machines of last week, Jack Parish and Ben Laycock. After last weeks great performance the two again put on a huge 191 run second wicket stand to help put Tows in a superb position for the day. Parish out in the 30th over for a brilliant 119 (off just 85 balls) was quickly followed to the hundred mark by Laycock (113 of 100 balls). With contributions from James Kirk (30) and a quick fire cameo from Kelly (21*). Tows finished with 319 for 5 declared off just 46 over’s. Pick of the bowlers for Horton House was young Christopher Taylor (3-63).
The Horton Innings never really got going thanks again to the bowling of Laycock (3-34) and Parish (3-55), and Tows were able to keep picking up wickets at vital times. Old boys Paul Ruff (41) and Simon Dadge (46) did their best to try and spoil the Tows party before Tows wrapped up the win in the 50th over bowling Horton House out for 203, the again excellent Christopher Taylor left stranded for Horton on 26.

Tows 1st XI will be looking to build on their great start away at ON’s 3rd Team on Saturday, while the Tows 2nd XI take on the ON's Academy Team at Greens Norton Road.
Towcestrians 1st XI began their Divison 3 season with a hard fought victory away to Rushden 2nds. After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Tows allowed Rushden to get off to a flying start. The Rushden openers put on 140 for the 1st wicket. After that things didn't get much better for Tows with Rushden posting a total of 251 for 2 from their 50 overs. Tony Clampin (112) and Barry Eales (65) were the main contributors with the bat.
Tows needed their big-guns to fire in reply, and after the setback of losing stand-in skipper Andrew Key, home-grown youngsters Ben Laycock and Jack Parish rose to the occasion. Laycock and Parish put on 121 for the second wicket, before Laycock was eventually dismissed for a very composed 94. After a slight mid-innings wobble Parish was able to guide Tows home with a delightful 104 not out – his first league century for the club.
