The 2nd team contunues to struggle. Over 20 players were unavailable on Saturday due to commitments during the Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone. A weakened Tows side again lost the toss, and struggled to 172 all out in just under 44 overs. James Baldwin was the only batsman to come out of the innings with any credit, scoring 59.
Tows were poor in the field, allowing the ON's batsmen to score runs far too easily. The home side eventually reached their target with 6 wickets to spare.

Tows 2nd team slumped to their fifth defeat of the season away at Weldon. Once again, Skipper Andy Roberts lost the toss and once again, Tows were put in to bat first. The visitors got off to a decent start with openers Andy Roberts (24) and James Baldwin (50) putting on a partnership of over 50 for the first wicket. Jacob Gilder scored 28, but no other batsman was able to make a decent contribution as Tows collapsed to 148 all out.
In reply, Weldon got off to a flier as opening pace bowlers James Baldwin and Andy Cater were hit to all parts of the ground. Tows then brought on two slow bowlers, which the Weldon batsmen found much harder to get away. Jacob Gilder bowled 13 overs, taking 3 wickets for 45 runs, while Andy Roberts took 3 for 34 from 10 overs. Weldon suffered a mini collapse, but were able to regroup with Conner McAlinden (38 not out) and captain Mark Rawson guiding the home side to their target.

Towcestrians 2nd XI secured their overdue first victory of the season with a 7-wicket win at Harlestone. Tows won the toss and elected to field. The visitors got off to a great start as the Harlestone top-order crumbled to 15 for 4. Some tight bowling from Kevin Hawkins (10-2-28-1) and James Baldwin (9-4-18-1) prevented the Harlestone batsmen from playing a shot in anger.
The game was then completely turned on its head when Philip Howe came to the crease. Howe was able to continuously dispatch the ball long over the boundary wall with ease. Tows put down a couple of chances in the field and were made to pay as Howe, along with partner Rajiv Raval (38), put on 78 for the 5th wicket in double-quick time, before Howe was eventually caught in the deep by skipper Andy Roberts off the bowling of Jacob Gilder for 45. lder (8-0-34-3) and Sean Duffy (4.2-1-12-2) then bowled with control to restrict the Harlestone lower order. They were eventually dismissed for 167 runs in the 44th over.
Tows started their reply in positive fashion, with Tony Roodt dispatching the ball for a 6 and a 4 within the first couple of overs before being comprehensively bowled by Harlestone opening bowler Jitesh Thanawalla. Andrew Key then joined opener Andy Roberts at the crease and the two continued to play with confidence.
They put on 90 for the 2nd wicket, before Key top-edged one straight up and was caught by the keeper. James Baldwin was then out without troubling the scorers, leaving Tows 3 wickets down with another 53 runs required for victory. Tows number 5, Jacob Gilder, clearly wanted an early finish as he came in and dispatched the ball to all areas. He ended up with 43 not out, including two straight six’s to finish the game. Roberts carried his bat through the innings, ending up on 71 not out. Tows reached their target for the loss of just three wickets, with a little more than 13 overs left to spare.

Tows 2nds team fell to their second successive defeat of the season at home against Weekley & Warkton. Tows lost the toss and were put in to bad. The home side made a great start as openers Andy Roberts and Tony Roodt put on 74 for the 1st wicket. Roberts fell for 34, and while the wickets continued to fall at one end, Roodt batted superbly at the other. Roodt brought up his 50 with a 6 over square leg and continued to accumulate runs throughout the Tows innings. He brought up his century with another 6, before finally falling on the very last ball of the innings for a magnificent 113. Tows finished on 196 for 8 from their 45 overs.
Tows had a very inexperienced bowling attack and it showed as Weekley & Warkton set about their target. The Weekley batsmen found it easy and none of the Tows bowlers were able to build up any pressure. Mo Abdullah claimed the only wicket of the innings as Weekley cruised to their victory target. Lee Fox smashed a virtually chanceless 135 to see the visitors home inside 26 overs.

The 2nd XI fell to a very disappointing defeat away at Kettering. Batting first, Tows scored what seemed to be a competitive score of 185 for 7 from their 45 overs. James Baldwin top scored with 44, Tony Roodt got 29 and Robson Kightley pitched in with a quick-fire 24 not out towards the end of the innings.
Tows looked to have the game under control as Kettering lost wickets at regular intervals. Kevin Hawkins and Jacob Gilder both took 3 wickets each, while wicket-keeper Thorne Gladwin bagged 4 catches and a stumping. As Tows looked to seal their first victory of the season, the Kettering batsmen continued to accumulate runs and were able to reach their target for the loss of 8 wickets with just 3 balls of their innings remaining.

Towcestrians 2nd XI hosted Weldon in glorious surroundings at Campbell Park in Milton Keynes. Tows won the toss and electing to field got off to a decent start as Kevin Hawkins (3-31) and Robson Kightley (3-55) made early breakthroughs. Tows, forced to field a depleted side due to some players still being stranded overseas as a result of the Icelandic volcano, then suffered from being an experienced bowler or two short as Luke Cummins let loose for the visitors. Cummins smashed 107 not out in double quick time, including 12 4’s and five 6’s, boosting his sides total to 208 for 8 from their 45 overs.
In reply Tows got off to a reasonable start before the loss of a few quick wickets in the middle order. The target looked an unlikely one given the batting line up that Tows had available but the Tows batsmen refused to admit defeat. Tony Roberts and youngster Thorne Gladwin showed great maturity to bat for the final hour ensuring that Tows earned a draw.
