Oz and Burl’s Testimonial Day

A perfect early Spring day saw veterans of Tows and Saints turn out to play in a charity fund raising game featuring some vets of the past and those still refusing to hang up their boots. Some great rugby was on show and some crunching tackles felt. Bones and bodies will be aching for some time! A terrific crowd turned up and were thoroughly entertained. The final score of 17-24 to Burl’s “Away” team, mattered not. Please visit Aboutmyarea website http://www.aboutmyarea.co.uk/Northamptonshire/Towcester/NN12/News/Sport/270378-Tows-Run-Away-With-Local-Derby-Against-Buckingham to see James Rudd’s photos of the game.

A great Rugby lunch followed, enjoyed by players, sponsors, Buckingham RFC’s committee and supporters alike. Beer, wine and port flowed………., then everyone turned out to watch the 1st XV comprehensively demolish Buckingham in the spring sunshine. Back inside the clubhouse to participate in our charity auction, (time to top up on the beer, wine port!). Some fabulous items in the auction kindly donated fetched a handsome sum all under the expert control of our resident auctioneer, James Wallis, thanks Jim!!

Time for some fun! It wasn’t long before Joe Chambers (DJ extraordinaire) got Tows rocking, food supplied by Robbie’s Hog Roast and Julian Hunt kept everyone well fed to sop up, yes you guessed it, more beer, wine, port. Towcestrians was full of people enjoying themselves well after midnight with the whole club celebrating a fantastic day out!

The good news is we raised well over £6000 pounds for the Air Ambulance and to purchase a Defibrillator for the club!

This event could not have happened without the organisation of Frank, Oz, Burl and Donna! Thank you for putting on a great show!
