Old Towcestrians Rugby Club is a popular and long established club within the Towcester community. Founded back in 1933 by the “Old Boys” of Towcester Grammar School, we have a rich history that has led us to being one of the most successful senior and junior rugby clubs in the East Midlands.

However, not only are we one of the longest established clubs in South Northamptonshire, we’re also the only club in the East Midlands to win the Lewis Shield in consecutive years (2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons). And we are very proud of winning the Alliance Cup Final last season.

If you’re seeking a rugby club packed with passion for the sport and an active social side, come and join in! We have great fun hosting many events throughout the year at our superb clubhouse and always welcome new faces. There’s something for everyone.

What do we offer?

Towcestrians Rugby welcomes new players from age 6 to play tag rugby, to older juniors across the age groups up to the u17/18 Colts team, and then also adults. All are welcome; girls, boys, men and women.

Each age group enjoys coaching from qualified staff. All sessions are geared towards enjoyment as well as development; we work hard to enable young players to reach their full potential. All age groups fall into categories as per the RFU continuum.

1st XV – Our 1st XV will be playing in the Midlands 1 East League.

Both our 2nd XV and 3rd XV – Play in East Midlands Merit Tables.

Women 1st XV – Our ladies are now playing in NC2 South Midlands League and welcome new players.

Under 18s Colts Academy – We have a thriving Under 18s Academy who compete in the East Midlands Leagues.

Minis & Juniors – We have approx. 350 young players aged 5-16, organised into year groups. Both girls and boys are welcome. They train together until the end of the U11s level. Girls’ only year groups then continue through to adults.

We are very proud of our record of achievement, for many Old Towcestrians have gone on to play for East Midlands, Midlands, Northampton Saints, and England.

When & where do we train?

Location – Towcestrians Sports Club, Greens Norton Road.

Academy Colts & Senior Teams – Training is held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Women – Training is held on Wednesday evenings at 7.00pm

Minis & Juniors

U6 to U10 –Coaching sessions and games are held on Sunday mornings (10am-12pm) September – April

U12s & U14s – Training is held on a Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.

U13s & U15s – Wednesday evenings.

U16s – Thursday evenings.
