Rugby

A huge weekend for the Rugby Section as all teams managed to win in some crucial games.

The 1st XV travelled to Windsor to take on a team unbeaten at home in over a year and a half! Tows also looking to avenge the home defeat again Windsor earlier in the season! The game had even more meaning as this game could decide the outcome of the playoff spot for promotion. In a tense hard fought game Tows emerged the victors and are now well placed to claim that vital 2nd place spot! Read how it happened on the Rugby Section website and enjoy the photos to!

The 2nd XV had a comfortable home win against arched rivals ON’s in the Bombardier League to keep them in the hunt for the league title! (Always good to beat ON’s! )

The Colts recorded a fine win in a close contest at Greens Norton Road in the Referees Cup against Peterborough to reach the Semi-Finals, well done!

Hockey

Mixed fortunes!

The 1st X1 played away against high flying Leamington team who ultimately thrashed Tows but that does not tell the whole story. Tows were equal if not better than their opposition for a greater part of the first half but due to injuries and non-availability in some crucial positions ultimately the defence gave way. The second half saw Tows then reduced to 10 players as Gemma English (one of the defensive leaders) was hospitalised with a nasty cut the head. (she returned to the club some hours later to join her team mates in the odd libation to ease her headache!). from then on there was no stopping Leamington.

The 2nd’s kept up the pressure on Daventry at the top of the league with a fine win over local rivals Saints with Lisa Groves once more the leading goal scorer!

The “Mighty 3’s” thrashed another Saints team scoring double figure goals and hoisting themselves into 3rd position in the league! Well done!
