Message from the Chairman
Happy New Year to you and your families! We are looking forward to an exciting year at Towcestrians and hope you will join in the fun and enjoy what the year ahead brings.
The rugby section made significant strides towards achieve its dreams of making it to National Leagues for only the second time in our history, following last weekend’s great result. The Staff and players are not getting complacent as there is still a long way to go!
The M&J’s go from strength to strength and we have seen a big spike in interest following the World Cup. Our problem increasingly is how to accommodate them all, plans are currently being worked upon which we hope will benefit all!
The Cricket section is now recovering well from its recent setbacks of a couple of years ago and hopes to be having two senior at the weekend plus the thriving Junior section.
The Hockey and Tennis sections are also doing well with the Hockey 1st X1 hoping to consolidate their position in Midlands 1 following their midwinter break. Tennis are still competing regularly despite the inclement weather with great success. As we get towards the summer our newest sport of softball hopes to build on its great foundation and want to recruit more players so it can compete in more tournaments this year. It’s a great family sport so give it a try. Outdoor practices start again after Easter.
Our long awaited new Members Bar and front entrance extension is nearing completion and will provide a very comfortable, cosy environment to sit and chat with friends and fellow members as well as being available for us to hire out and provide much needed income during the week when we are quiet. At the same time we will be concluding our clubhouse refurbishments by modernising our existing bar to bring it up to date with the rest of the club. Our attention will then be turned to expanding and improving our playing surfaces.
