On Thursday the 3rd of August, Towcestrians held an EGM at the club to vote for the recommendation to purchase 8 more acres of land to enable us to greatly expand our facilities.
Over 100 Tows members were there to witness the historic vote which was carried unanimously. The General Committee is now empowered to purchase, through the work of our Development Sub-committee, the land from the adjacent farmer in early autumn.
There was a presentation by Steve Griggs (Treasurer), which highlighted the needs of the club and he then unveiled the extensive plans whereby each section would benefit, with the extra provision for other sports like Petanque for seniors, Netball (our fastest growing new section), walking and disabled sports, and an outdoor fitness course and jogging trail. Here are the plans READ MORE (attached).
Thanks to the Trustees for their support and all those who are on the Development Committee who have given many hours over the last 18 months to get the project to this stage.
We have plans of how to deliver the project and the estimated timelines, and needless to say the £3.7m project will take a lot of hard work and a huge amount of funding. We asked at the meeting for help on the DC and 3 at the meeting came forward immediately, a Project manager, someone to help with the funding applications and a social media specialist. But we need a LOT more help. We have identified many funders who are interested in the project. We are already applying to for grants but there are a lot more. PLEASE let us know if you can help in any way at all even for an hour a week!
We are creating a fundraising committee to look at all aspects of fundraising, such as our successful “Buy-a-Brick” campaign 5 years ago for the clubhouse extension, and fundraising events. We need people to fill in (with guidance) and pursue fund raising applications to already identified possible funders and follow them through. We have had great support from SNC so far and they have indicated that there are more funds from them available in due course, and the same applies to some of our NGB’s such as the RFU, ECB and LTA.
Some of our fantastic Sponsors have also indicated their willingness to support the project and we shall be meeting and talking with them soon and we would like to thank them for their continued generous support. If you know of any business or private sponsor who may be willing to help us with ANY aspect of the project please let a committee member know.
So please support you club and help make it one of the most prestigious Sports Clubs in the region. We need people helping not just in fundraising but with other professional and nonprofessional skills to make this happen.
If you are willing to help in ANY way please contact John English (07879 497297) johnenglish@towcestrians.azurewebsites.net
