Sports Update

This could be a bumper year for Towcestrians rugby. The 1st XV squad are still in the hunt for what would be an amazing treble as they remain top of their league having thumped Swindon 2 weeks ago by a T20 score (read the match report on the Rugby website) and were leading 60-3 last Saturday when the match was halted due to a bad injury to an opposition player. we all wish him well and a speedy recovery!

They are through to the Final of the Lewis Shield having beaten arch rivals ON’s in the semi’s and take on the ON’s again on the 12th Apr in the semi-final of the Alliance Cup. The match starts at 7.30 pm at Northants Boys School so please come and support them. Should they get through, they would be at Franklin’s Gardens again on the same week.

The Lewis Shield final is April 19th , against Bletchley, and the Alliance Cup final is scheduled for Thursday 21st April. Please come to the Gardens to support the guys!! Watch out for updates.

To cap off that week, the 1st XV have their final match of the season against Swanage and Wareham who are bottom of the league. Warning: There may be a bit of a party, and you are all invited…..

The 2nd XV, Development Team, have wrapped up their league with a great performance again a strong Ampthill side and are champions, another great effort and further reason to celebrate. The Ultimates (3rds) go marching on and look like they also will be promoted and the Colts are still in the Referees Cup to!

The 1st X1 team are going through a transitional period and were lucky to survive this season, but managed to stay in Midlands 1. The 2nds are in Northants Div 1 but unfortunately the 3rds got relegated to Div 2. But the good news is that there are lots of youngsters queuing up for next season to press for honours in all the teams. The Hockey sections recently had their AGM and have elected a new 1st X1 Captain and new Chairperson. We wish them well and would like to thank the previous officers for all their hard work and that very much includes all the coaches, especially of the juniors.

The winter leagues have all come to an end and there have been some excellent results. A full report of the season can be found on their website.
