Sports Update

With the winter sports teams finished for a few months it is the turn of Cricket, Softball and Tennis to take centre stage, although Hockey have entered a summer league too!

Cricket got off to a poor start, not being able to field a team for the first game of the season. Please? Does no one want to play cricket for Tows? Why do ‘Tows taught’ cricketers want to play elsewhere with inferior facilities? Please make contact in confidence to johnenglish@towcestrians.co.uk if you have any views or contact Steve Chalcraft if you would like to play. steve@georgian-house.co.uk

It would be a disaster if the club folded after all these years especially now as we are preparing a brand new, top quality cricket ground, exclusively for cricket on the new land. Northants CCC have already said they would want to use it for their 2nd X1 and Ladies X1 base. It will be the best facility for miles around, but not if no one plays for Tows.

It also puts in jeopardy the fantastic kids cricket we have at the club because without the square being looked after by the seniors, that too would disappear.

Please, can anyone help?

Wednesday 15th May is the senior rugby AGM. Please will all members attend. There are some important changes to be discussed and voted on.

Netball

The Kites had their first competitive match this week against as much more experienced Towcester Tornados. In the end they went down 14-16 but it was a great performance and has given them a taste of competition!

Anyone wishing to join in and have fun, just turn up on Monday evenings!
