Sports Update

Whilst Hockey section are still on the mid-winter break, the rugby section are back after their Christmas and New Year festivities, indeed the 1st Team squad turned out on New Year’s Day to train!

The training paid off! A very good traveling support which included our resident and famed professional Photographer James Rudd, who took a number of terrific action shots which can be seen by following his Flickr link https://www.flickr.com/photos/towcesternews/albums/72157660758320563  , were in for a try feast. The Tows totally dominated the game from start to finish and ran in 8 unanswered tries and had the satisfaction of nilling Grove RFC. Conditions weren’t great but Robbie George, Head of Rugby at Towcestrians, told our very own editor, John English:

“I am delighted how we adapted to the conditions and were technically good all over the park!”

Jim Wallis will be posting the full match report on the Senior rugby website.

The Development team had a friendly game against Banbury in a pool game. Banbury were probably wishing they had chosen another fixture as a rampant Tows side mirrored the 1st Xv and scored 53 unanswered points!

The Colts fared less well and although edging it at half time, couldn’t stay in touch with a very strong Bedford Blues. The Colts had a much stronger side out than in recent times due to some returning members from school duties.
